Crusheen kept their championship hopes alive in dramatic fashion as teenager Rian O’Donnell struck a last-gasp goal three minutes into added time to secure a 3-14 to 2-16 victory over Broadford at Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg on Sunday.

Broadford controlled matters early on and led from the outset holding a five-point advantage at half-time, with Niall O’Farrell and Michael Vaughan finding the net. Crusheen battled back after the break, with goals from Breffni Horner and Fergus Kennedy reducing the deficit.

Despite struggling in front of goal and registering 19 wides, Crusheen never gave up. Ross Hayes’ frees brought them within two before O’Donnell, introduced late in the game, found enough space behind the Broadford defence and drilled home the decisive goal in the final seconds of added time.

The result keeps Crusheen and Scariff in contention, with the two sides set to meet in the final group game in a winner-takes-all battle for survival.
